Antique Carved Wood Indian Print Block or "Tjap"

Our beautiful, old hand carved one-of-a-kind wooden print blocks or tjaps come from India. These are used to impress textiles and cloth with either inks, dyes or wax. These print blocks are carved of Rohida wood - a very dense and hard wood.
Old Print blocks are becoming difficult to source and find since they, for the most part, are no longer used - having been replaced by screen printing and modern web presses.

Great to repurpose into a door handle, re-use as a fabric stamp or sit on your bookshelf as conversation piece.

Our used print blocks come with the appropriate wear and slight damage relevant to their age and traditional use. Few are absolutely perfect. Some have holes drilled into them to allow air/excess paint/dye to escape. Some have minor wear, cracks, chips or other damage that SHOULD be visible in the photos. They are sold as-is.

This purchase empowers Indian girls. Wanderloot donates a portion of proceeds from every piece of Indian furniture sold toThe Shadhika Foundation whose mission is to invest in the education, empowerment, and economic self-sufficiency of girls in India.
