Hand Painted Vietnamese Propaganda Poster Two Cats "Raise Cats To Keep Crops From Destruction"

"Raise Cats To Keep Crops From Destruction"

We’ve long been a fan of Vietnam’s colorful propaganda posters. In the realm of Communist poster artwork, Vietnam’s propaganda legacy is particularly beautiful. Often painted by students of the Hanoi College of Fine Arts who supported the war effort, the artwork reflects Mandarin aesthetics as well as Western oil painting techniques learned from the French. Used to educate and inspire citizen action, they were effective “weapons” to raise morale, change behavior and direct the efforts of the citizens during the war. Most of the themes center around battle and production activities.

This is a hand painted reproduction of original artwork – not a print. There may be some very fine tears on the edges of the poster (not the main body of the artwork) due to the fragility of rice paper.
