Vintage Krishna Hindu God / Goddess Reverse Glass Painting with Hand-Carved Wood Frame

Krishna, recognized for his flute, is known for his playfulness. A symbol of peace and tranquility, this reverse glass painting is bound to bring in good luck to the house or workplace, in which it is placed.

Here's a little bit of history about reverse glass paintings...The flourishing trade relations between East India Company and China brought the art of glass painting to India in the 1700s. With reverse glass painting, the artist works on the back of the glass, painting backwards to create the work. The paint designs are first outlined, the paint is applied, and then it is fired onto the glass using a kiln. The heat of the kiln ensures the paint bonds with the glass. Indian glass paintings are a traditional art form known for their brilliance, clarity and use of rich colors featuring women, popular legends, and Hindu iconography.

This painting is 40+ years old. Exact date unknown. Please note this vintage devotional glass artwork has gone through as many monsoons (with months of humidity), so it has some staining that comes with history and age.

The hand carved frame is new, and made of mango wood. It is a lovely original piece.
